Empowering Residents Nationwide in Long Term Care Facilities
Executive Directors' Message
The Resident Councils of Washington (RCW) is a partnership of residents' living in long-term care facilities, family members and friends, healthcare professionals and educators who recognize that disability and/or chronic illness does not mean inability. RCW is the only independent consumer based statewide resident council in the United States and needs your support to continue.
Advocacy
RCW advocates for the concerns and voices of residents, their family members, and the general public, who put their trust in federal and state government to maintain resident's safety through policy development and legislative activities - local, state and national.
Education
The Resident Councils of Washington sponsors educational seminars and courses targeted toward enabling social services, activities and other residential care professionals to meet resident needs and interests, as well as sponsoring regional resident centered conferences for residents and staff from nursing homes and other adult care facilities.
Consultation
Flexible, individualized consultation options are available from RCW Activity Consultants and Social Service Consultants. Activities for special groups, individuals, and in room activities. Intergenerational programming, special events and resident councils.
Classified Ad Service
The Resident Councils of Washington provides a classified ad service for residents, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, veteran homes and adult family homes. This new ad service gives residents the opportunity to buy or sell personal items. It gives long term care facilities the opportunity to place employment opportunity ads for RNs/LPNs, CNAs, Social Workers and/or Activity Directors . The RCW Classified Ad Service will be a national fundraising source for residents in long term care facilities. To place job opportunity ads visit our resident council store.
Volunteers
Volunteer with RCW, help support residents living in long term care facilities. We need volunteers to become buddies or friends with residents. Volunteers needed to help residents with various projects and committee assignments. Volunteers can help residents at legislative meetings with or without residents.
